Rifleman's Cottage has two bedrooms with room for four and a baby in a double, a single bed, a pull out bed and a cot. All of its windows have uninterrupted views of either the south facing cottage garden, or the beautiful Swift Hill Conservation area. The cottage was formerly a worker's cottage built about 300 years ago. It has been renovated to a high standard mixing reclaimed furnishings with designer cool, retaining the original beams, exposed stone, floorboards whilst installing stone underfloor heating and speakers in the ceilings which link to a music system and large plasma television. A stunningly simple bathroom boasts a reclaimed art deco suite and the delightful rural kitchen warms the cottage from an original ray-burn oven. A Gypsy caravan resides in the garden which can be used to sleep an additional person or two small children, and contains a double bed and original wood burning stove.
Riflemans Cottage has been furnished and fitted as a home rather than a holiday let.
The accommodation is on three floors. Reached by a winding wooden staircase, the main bedroom on the top 'attic' floor has magnificent views over Swift Hill nature reserve through the large velux window from the luxurious wooden king-size bed whose comfortable mattress is made of organic natural fibres. A simple white painted floor with matching chest of drawers and a gold antique chair upholstered in delightful pink rose bud fabric completes the top floor accommodation.
The single bedroom, which is open plan and on the first floor has a single bed and also a pullout bed is on the first floor and has dual aspect views. Here can be found a desk, complimentary Broadband internet access, Skype telephone and fax/copier machine. The first floor Bathroom has an original reclaimed art deco bath, wash basin and WC with natural spring water and garden views. There is a shower attachment on the bath and a wall radiator to warm towels.
Downstairs is a good sized open plan sitting room and dining area, leading onto the kitchen or the conservatory/breakfast room and door to the garden. The wooden french reclaimed dining table and benches, seats six plus a baby chair. The large classic wool & silk sofa seats six. There is underfloor stone heating for wintertime and magnificent dual aspect views, a large brick fireplace, TV with satellite channels, DVD, radio and CD player plus a record player and excellent supply of records, books, DVDs, CDs, magazines, board games and jigsaws. There is also a supply of logs in the Conservatory Room.
The rural Kitchen is compact and bijoux but well equipped with rayburn, double gas hob, fridge/freezer, dishwasher and washing machines.
Outside a wooden table and chairs can found looking on what has to be the best view around; the glorious swift hill nature reserve.
Under the shady boughs of the apple, plum and damson trees is the idyllic south facing cottage garden and there is parking for one car in the lane beside the yew tree arched entrance to Rifleman's cottage.
