Rifleman's house sits in its own beautiful cottage garden, decorated with lavendar English roses and box hedges with stunning panoramic views across the country fields with the unique backdrop of Swift Hill Nature Reserve. This gorgeous cotswold stone house, has retained all of its original character and charm featuring unique stone arched windows dating back to 1740.
The house is decorated is an elegant Gustavian style throughout, and has featured in countless magazines due to the owners uniquely stylish gift for interior design. The entrance door leads through a traditional porched area to a hallway with original limestone flags where double doors immediately to the left lead on to the sitting room which features an open stone fireplace and large stone mullion window which overlooks Rifleman's delightful garden. Pale grey walls create an atmosphere of peace and calm, with beautiful vintage fabrics covering the collectible furnishings which include a comfortably cosy dyed linen sofa, charming antique floral chair and large inviting victorian armchair.
Further along the hall one enters into the wonderful and huge open plan kitchen area fitted with fine oak wooden floors and kitchen island bar all overlooking the glorious fields beyond. Doubling up as an extra sitting room this special central room of Riflemans house hosts a warming Aga, eight foot sofa, television and leather armchair with duel aspect views of the countryside shared by the dining room area which is linked to this room and completed by a French fruit wood dining table, seating eight to ten.
Double doors lead from the dining room onto the Cotswold flagstone patio which hosts another wooden table and chairs to sit ten people.
Directly off the kitchen is a convenient snug utility room fitted with a washer dryer, lots of storage including a wine rack with an en suite w.c. cloak room.
First Floor:
A simple wooden staircase, carpeted in a thick sea-grass tweed leads to the first floor where three bedrooms, the second bathroom and an office are located.
The first bedroom which is directly left of the stairs is a feminine cosy double with a comfortable divan bed, fresh whitewashed walls, pink painted built in wooden wardrobe, desk and delightful large window seats which look out onto the courtyard with fantastic views of Swift Hill in the background. Sea-grass floors finish off this room with a reclaimed painted bedside desk and and a nursing chair covered in Sanderson vintage floral linen in green and pink.
Directly right of the stairs is the second bedroom which features a french 1920's decorative bed, 19th century chest of drawers, decorated with an assortment of antique perfume bottles and framed photographs surrounding a wonderful 19th century traditional mirror. Another quaint chair, upholstered in vintage linen sits beside the stone mullion window which is also fitted with another beautiful example of collectible vintage linen in the form of a blind. An antique french water colour hangs opposite the bed adding even more character to this traditional room.
Bedroom three is an enchanted single room, ideal for a child with a charming blue iron victorian bed, fitted duck-egg blue wooden wardrobe with matching panelled painted walls and antique mirrored desk. Another purple painted desk gives additional workspace and the room is finished off with two charming child size linen arm chairs and a glorious stone window seat which looks out onto the fields beyond.
Next to this room is the main bathroom boasting a limestone floor with thick wooden panelled walls finished in cotswold beige. A limestone rimmed bath, wc, china sink and mosaic walk-in shower gives this room a fresh and comforting atmosphere, again with glorious views through the cute stone windows onto Swift Hill.
At the other end of the hallway is the discreet open plan office space, ideal for internet browsing in style, with its long fitted L shape desk surrounded by rose floral vintage wall paper and again with a view onto the fields out front.
Second Floor:
The staircase continues upwards to the unique rustic original attic floor all with gorgeous exposed light wooden beams which has been converted into two further bedrooms joined centrally by an en suite bathroom.
Open to and left of the stairs is a very large room which is perfect for a children's play area but also has twin divan single beds and is decorated with an antique dolls house, small child's iron day bed and floral rose rug.
The cosy en-suite bathroom is up two steps onto cream painted wooden floors which feature a free standing bath, wc and antique wooden beauty cabinet.Two limestone panelled sinks look out onto the Swift Hill views beyond and the sloping eaved ceiling is finished in matching wooden painted panelling.
Through double doors can be found the extremly light master bedroom which boasts the most delightful ornate wooden beamed ceiling, stone mullioned windows either side and a unique circular eave window with glorious views in both directions. A six foot divan white linen bed is the central piece offset with a wooden antique chest of drawers, iron antique bedside table and a fitted wooden wardrobe all finished in a stylish array of taupe colours. A full length mirror, tv and small faded linen floral pink and white sofa finish off this delightful room ideal for a honeymoon couple.
